Advancing Primary Care Through Abdominal Ultrasound – Penang Edition

Following the success of our first workshop in April, Sains Medika Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with the The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Penang, proudly brought the Comprehensive Abdominal Ultrasound Workshop for Primary Care to Penang on Saturday, 26 July 2025, at Ixora Hotel.

This workshop gathered 32 participants, all eager to enhance their ultrasound skills for better clinical application in a primary care setting.

The day began with an insightful lecture by Dr. Gayatheri (MD CSMU, EmMed UM), who provided a strong theoretical foundation on abdominal ultrasound scanning. The session continued with hands-on practical training, where participants were guided through real-time scanning techniques under the supervision of clinical experts.

To provide a well-rounded learning experience, we set up four EDAN ultrasound systems – AX8, AX3, LX25, and LX9 – offering a range of platforms for participants to explore. Special focus was placed on upper and lower abdominal scanning, covering organs such as the kidney, liver, bladder, prostate, uterus, and ovaries.

The Edan AX8 and LX9 ultrasound stood out among the equipment, receiving excellent feedback for its amazing image resolution and smart features that aid in accurate organ measurement. Many participants also praised our clinical application for their clear explanations and guidance on probe positioning, which helped build confidence during the hands-on sessions.

We look forward to organizing more training programs that support continuous learning and empower primary care professionals with practical diagnostic tools.
