Advancing Primary Care Through Abdominal Ultrasound

Saturday, 26 April 2025, Sains Medika Sdn Bhd, with the support of the Manipal Alumni Association Malaysia, successfully organized the Comprehensive Abdominal Ultrasound Workshop for Primary Care at STTC Arachem (M) Sdn Bhd. Bringing together healthcare professionals to enhance their ultrasound proficiency in a primary care setting.

The program began with an introductory lecture by Dr Jessica Ann Nathan, providing participants with essential theoretical knowledge on abdominal ultrasound techniques. This was followed by hands-on scanning sessions under the expert guidance of a specialist doctor. These sessions were designed to reinforce practical skills and improve diagnostic confidence among participants.

To ensure an optimal learning experience, four dedicated EDAN ultrasound stations—AX8, LX25, AX3, and LX9—were set up. This setup allowed all participants to gain valuable, direct experience across a variety of devices.

The hands-on sessions covered both upper and lower abdominal scanning techniques, including:

• Upper Abdomen: Kidney, Liver, Spleen, Gallbladder, and Pancreas
• Lower Abdomen: Bladder, Prostate, Ovary, and Uterus
